From Earth Observation to Earth Materials Characterisation–Hyperspectral remote and proximal sensing for soil mapping and critical minerals exploration

Carsten Laukamp (Discovery Program, CSIRO Mineral Resources)

  • Introduction into applied reflectance spectroscopy (mineral spectroscopy theory, remote and proximal sensing systems, reference libraries, satellite data for Europe…)
  • Field and drill core hyperspectral sensors for soil/regolith analysis
  • Remote sensing of soils/regolith and green and dry vegetation
  • Remote sensing for mineral exploration (e.g. LCT-pegmatites, alterations around VHMS, MVT, orogenic gold)
  • Integration with regional geophysical, lithological, and geochemical datasets
