Organisation

From January 1st 2023, GeoSphere Austria is Austria´s Federal Institute for Geology, Geophysics, Climatology and Meteorology.

GeoSphere Austria was founded in 2023 through the merger of Austria’s geological survey GBA and the national weather and earthquake service ZAMG. With more than 300 years of joint experience and over 500 employees, it forms a unique interdisciplinary framework.

GeoSphere Austria makes an important contribution to increasing national resilience and crisis resistance and contributes to a precautionary approach to climate change, its consequences and Austria's sustainable development.

Management

GeoSphere Austria is managed by the Directorate General. The Directorate General is supported by the Division Directors as well as the the Scientific Advisory Board. The Board of Trustees acts as an independent supervisory and advisory body.
