Trained as an engineer for mechanical and industrial engineering, studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Since 2003 in a management position in the field of finance in the sectors mechanical engineering, research & development and real estate. Since 2011 managing director in the sectors renewable energy, consultancy & software development as well as logistics. From 2017 lecturer at the University for Continuing Education in Krems as part of the Certificate Programme Professional Supervisory Board Work. Administrative Director General of GeoSphere Austria since 2023.
Management
GeoSphere Austria is managed by the Directorate General. The Directorate General is supported by the Division Directors as well as the the Scientific Advisory Board. The Board of Trustees acts as an independent supervisory and advisory body.
GeoSphere Austria is headed by Ing. Mag. Sylvia Bauer-Beck, Administrative Director General, and Dr. Andreas Schaffhauser, Scientific Director General. Several Directors, who lead the divisions, support the Directorate General.

The Scientific Advisory Board consists of nine members in total, and furthermore of members from the (inter)national research and education community, the mining industry as well as one member each from a European geological-geophysical and meteorological-climatological service. It advises the Directorate General, focussing on recommendations in the strategic direction of research and development.
