Weather support for efficient preparation and safe organisation

"During the races, it is particularly important to ensure the safety of the runners, for example whether gusts of wind can be a danger during the jumps or whether fog restricts visibility," says Manfred Bauer, head of the regional office for Tyrol and Vorarlberg at GeoSphere Austria, "and of course the organisers also want to know about possible dangers for the public in good time - for example large amounts of snow or the risk of icy conditions - so that they can react as early as possible."

Weather stations at Mausefalle, Seidlalm and Hausbergkante

GeoSphere Austria set up three additional weather stations along the Streif in autumn to ensure optimal preparation and execution of the Hahnenkamm races. They are located at the Mausefalle (1605 metres above sea level), at the Seidlalm jump (1258 m) and at the Hausbergkante (1032 m). There are also the permanent GeoSphere measuring points at Hahnenkamm-Ehrenbachhöhe (1794 metres) and Kitzbühel-Ort (772 metres).
