Earthquake Registrations

GeoSphere Austria has numerous digital recordings of 'strong earthquakes' in Austria and maintains a comprehensive archive of recordings from the seismographs of the time. Depending on the desired period, we offer digital waveform data, peak values and spectra, time series for special load cases and scans or vectorised historical seismograms.

GeoSphere Austria has numerous digital recordings of strong earthquakes in Austria going back to 1994, and maintains a comprehensive archive of not yet fully digitized recordings of seismographs starting in 1904. Today, GeoSphere Austria´s earthquake service operates a monitoring network with over 30 broadband stations and over 30 strong-motion stations.

We offer the following services in the field of earthquake recording and support you in the selection of suitable data:

  • Extraction of waveform data at a station or for a specific event (formats: ASCII, miniSEED, SEG-Y, SAC, etc.).
  • Determination of peak values and spectra of ground motion (PGA, PGV, PGD, PSA, etc.).
  • Selection of suitable time series for a defined load case and hazard level.
  • Copy of a scan from the archive of historical seismograms.
  • Vectorised recording from the archive of historical seismograms.
