Symposium "Thermal water in focus"
The Office of the Upper Austrian Provincial Government (Directorate of Environment and Water Management, Water Management Department), in cooperation with the Thermal Water Expert Group, the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, GeoSphere Austria and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management, is organising a symposium on the topic of thermal water on Wednesday, 2 October 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00 in Ried im Innkreis with the presentation of the new 3D model for the sustainable management of thermal water resources in the Lower Bavarian-Upper Austrian Molasse Basin.
In the Lower Bavarian-Upper Austrian Molasse Basin between Regensburg, Landshut and Linz, there is a significant deposit of thermal water deep underground. The sustainable balneological and geothermal use of these limited deep waters poses particular tasks and challenges, especially for the operators and the administration. In order to develop a common understanding of the system and to assess the effects of thermal water utilisation, the Thermal Water Expert Group, established by the Standing Water Commission under the Regensburg Treaty, commissioned the creation of a thermo-hydraulically coupled 3D thermal water model in 2017. This event will present the current ideas on the hydrogeology of the thermal water resources, the results of the numerical modelling and the planned application of the model in the management of the thermal water resources.
Target groups: Operators of thermal plants, planners, representatives of water management, environmental and climate protection, municipalities and authorities, interested persons
Date: Wednesday, 2 October 2024, 10:00 to 15:00 Venue: Sparkassen-Stadtsaal, Kirchenplatz 13, 4910 Ried im Innkreis, Austria Price: free of charge
